Bang & Olufsen, Windsor Refurbishment

MPL Interiors has been commissioned by high-end home entertainment specialist, Bang & Olufsen, to carry out a number of retail fit outs, starting with the Royal Windsor store. MPL was selected for its ability to work accurately within a specified brief and with third-party partners. The design and product specification throughout is communicated by M2 Retail Solutions, with all the fittings sent to MPL flack pack for assembly and installation. Other stores already completed under the MPL Interiors and M2 Retail Solutions partnership include Harrods, Southampton, Kingston, Knightsbridge and Dublin. The sensitive conservation area, coupled with a heritage retail unit, called for a very sympathetic refurbishment.
The curved, intricate window frames were retained and made good, while MPL supplied new toughened glass panels for extra security. Additionally, there were covenants restricting the use of illuminated signage so MPL installed a simple yet striking fascia with stud mounted letters and a sleek projecting sign with fret-cut B&O logo. Crucial to each Bang & Olufsen store is the electrical provision, with MPL leading the way on the complex cabling and data sites. Detailed drawings during the first fix allowed for the correct location of points and the channeling away of wires, as well as the installation of new lighting, a new ceiling and air conditioning.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Windsor retail fit out is the living room area, where staff demonstrate Bang & Olufsen’s most advanced technology. The automated blinds, TV screens, speakers and lights are amazing but are only possible thanks to MPL’s smart wiring, planning and electrical management. Also installed by MPL as part of this 5 week on-site refurbishment were:- real timber parquet flooring, client-facing cloakrooms and a new staff kitchen, plus the rejuvenation of a store room.
