Samsung partnered once again with commercial refurbishment specialist MPL Interiors to create its latest high street service centre. The brief was to create a fresh, welcoming environment for customers, taking into account the dynamics of a repair centre and the tendency for these types of stores to become very busy in peak periods. Always at the forefront of MPL’s mind was the distinctive Samsung corporate identity, with white and blue the dominant colours – as seen in the previous 17 Samsung service centres designed and installed by MPL. At Romford, the unit was very square in nature so to soften the look, MPL set about
introducing curves. It created a false bulkhead ceiling with an undulating design joined by spherical pendant lights. This was mirrored by bespoke semi circular benches below, with customised mobile coffee tables and brand-matched soft cushions.
Initial space planning and first fix designs allowed for the incorporation of Samsung’s queue buster technology, which is designed to manage the flow of people and to ensure no visitor slips through the net. MPL installed the touch-screen log in and print point at the front of the service centre, hiding away all wiring, and installed a further two wall-
mounted screens that show customers their queue position.
Other features in Romford include a custom-built service station with inbuilt air chargers, cable tidies and swivel-mounted display screens; a branded glass panel set in a feature alcove created by MPL using false bulkheads; a bespoke display cabinet with internal lighting and glass doors; a new branded glass shop front with vinyl graphics; new Karndean flooring and new office furniture.
