The existing workplace was uninspiring and not reflective of the blue in Blue Sky at all. We were asked to create design concepts and specification details that were contemporary and Scandinavian in style, with an overriding blue theme with yellow highlights. A further request was to use the space more wisely to accommodate staff and a reception desk, as well as to create a kitchen/meeting room to the rear of the office. Our final task was to supply and fit a number of bespoke fittings and furniture items to complete the new aesthetic.
The starting point was the agent’s rebranded Blue Sky logo – a departure from the company’s previous image and neutral approach to design. It was then left to MPL’s Senior Interior Designer, Daina Petravice, to draw influences and meet the brief. Central to this project was a highly detailed mood board, complemented by 3D layouts and a detailed floor plan. Our concept designs were presented to the client for them to follow, with the client in contact with Daina throughout the process to ensure an impeccable execution.
With a name like Blue Sky, it was a foregone conclusion that colour would be injected into a dull office. Rather than opt for primary shades of blue and yellow, MPL Interiors specified more sophisticated shades of turquoise, mustard yellow and Mediterranean blue – set against a white backdrop for a clean, crisp feel.
The client was keen to create a very different office to other estate agents, detailing the look should feel more like a home than a workplace. Therefore our design concepts included lots of soft furnishings, more creative approaches to wall art and accessories you would normally find in the home. The front-of-house sofa also doubles as a comfy resting spot for office dog, Angus.
The branch footprint was quite compact and to give the client its desired meeting room, we drew up plans to screen off the back portion of the office with a partially-glazed wall. As space would be used for meetings with the general public, MPL specified a high-end finish in terms of kitchen cabinets, tables and chairs, tiles and accessories
To ensure a consistent level of finish, MPL supplied the majority of fixtures and fittings, as well as a number of bespoke items. These included the supply and fit of the office furniture, reception counter, and the slatted wall and ceiling feature.
“We are really pleased with it all. Thanks again for all your hard work and support over the course of the project. I have already recommended MPL Interiors to a few people. The feedback from our neighbours and clients has all been really positive - they are all very impressed.”
