Drawing inspiration from the estate agent interior design seen in existing Draker offices and the local design-led vernacular, MPL Interiors paired bespoke office furniture with stylish flourishes to create a new branch in Fulham. The end result was a world away from anything beige or corporate.

The brief
We were asked to follow Draker’s distinct ‘un-estate agency’ approach when undertaking this estate agent commercial fitout on London's Fulham Road. This was a true ‘end-to-end’ project, requiring a strip back and rip-out phase before commissioning a number of bespoke elements and installing a suite of digital display items.
Our approach
Although we started the refurbishment with a finalised set of interior design and space plans, MPL found a number of hidden structural elements during the stripping back process, which we had to incorporate into the design ‘on the fly’.
A trio of custom-built facets
With the unexpected easily negotiated by the design team, we set about fitting the three ‘anchor’ elements of the office fit out. The Italian marble desk is a statement piece of office furniture, hand finished on site, and incorporating integrated USB/charging points and internal illumination.
Also custom made is a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf with integrated storage, LCD screen and coffee machine. Finally, the back office is separated from the public-facing space by a glass partition, which has been inspired by Crittall windows. Behind the partition lies a set of ‘dealer’ style desks for the agents, with new office chairs and storage.
Clear line of sight
Rather than hide the design from the public’s gaze, we designed, specified and installed a brand new shop front, with a virtually frameless wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling glazing system, which brings a touch of architectural flair to the exterior.
To keep the glass unobstructed, MPL designed and installed two ceiling mounted, street-facing Draker logos, with internal illumination for added after-dark impact.
Additional aspects
Other design flourishes include illuminated 3D wall art, a glass map with internal illumination, digital window displays, and a typographical wall feature that comprises individually cut and mounted steel letters, expertly applied by hand. MPL also refurbished the ground floor to provide a new kitchen, cloakroom, meeting room and staff area.
