Seymours came to MPL Interiors with a brand that had strong core values and a modern business approach mismatched to a dark, dated office in Woking. The combination of drab colours, poor lighting and old-fashioned furniture created an uninviting feel. The primary objective of this estate agency office refurb was to create a better sense of space and light.
The first job was to remove a partition wall that sat quite forward in the original office layout and immediately cramped proportions. This was replaced by a glass wall set much further back, leaving enough room behind to screen off the communal kitchen.
The glass was treated with a semi opaque vinyl graphic, allowing natural light to seep through and lighten back office areas. Proportions were also lengthened using a stripe pattern carpet with the grain running from front to back, drawing the eye down and giving the perception of a much longer office.
The whole workplace atmosphere was lifted by the installation of a new ceiling and lighting. The old suspended ceiling was replaced and new lights installed throughout, incorporating recessed overhead spotlights and feature LEDs that highlight new 3D wall art.
Finishing touches include a new architectural detail created by building out an existing wall, wallpapering the recesses and installing LEDs to create a focal point by the new reception area, and installing a bespoke display unit in a wood effect that matches the new office desks. This custom-made item of features recessed shelves that are internally lit by built-in LEDs.
The Woking office was also the first estate agency to receive a brand new digital window display system – a joint venture between Samsung and Reapit, installed by MPL Interiors. The screens are complimented by new outdoor signage that includes an internally-illuminated fascia tray and a new acrylic wall sign.
