Did you know High Street Queen Mary Portas is at it again? Her love of local shops in town is behind a new BBC2 series called Interior Design Masters. A recent episode saw her judge two independent shops on a Nottingham High Street that had been given a new shop fit out. The results had Twitter ablaze with positive comments and praise, illustrating just what a retail refit can do for a business – not just in terms of customer perception but also in terms of PR.

The episode comes at a time when High Streets across Britain are gearing up for The Great British High Street Awards results, which are announced on November 2019. Up to 40 shortlisted High Streets are being visited by an independent panel of judges, and aesthetics are a large part of the judging criteria.

MPL - commercial interior designers in London and across the UK - has worked in hundreds of High Streets across the UK, using our shop interior design skills to revamp branches of major brands and independent business. Many companies come to us as a result of the rebranding, a merger or a takeover and while refurbishment is of immediate concern for the individual entity, businesses often overlook the collective power of an attractive High Street.

People buy with their eyes and shopping in the High Street has a massive advantage over its online counterpart. If all the shops in a row look inviting, the cumulative effect is commanding - drawing in visitors and delivering more footfall.

MPL Interiors can help stores make a more positive impact on the High Street but if it’s your business neighbours that are letting down the overall look, why not introduce them to us for the greater good?
