The catalyst for a wider re-brand

Our lead designer created an inspiring set of 3D concept designs and mood boards for Buckingham Gate to peruse. They were so impressed with the palette of petrol blue and gold, with geometric motifs, that it used our creative to heavily influence its upcoming corporate rebrand.

Working with existing elements

Our initial site survey revealed a comprehensive first fix, which gave us a great blank canvas to customize. Our space planning and interior design did, however, have to incorporate a number of retained elements. An internal exposed brick wall that delineated three private offices and a matching retaining reception wall were kept, as were the numerous ‘wire basket’ style pendant light fittings.

Covid-proof conferencing installed

We worked closely with our client – for whom many of its associates are overseas – to specify and install a high-end video conferencing platform. Our power, data and installation plan allowed all three private rooms to use the facility, and connect with clients even when international travel restrictions may be in place.

A light touch with heavy metal

As chartered financial planners, Buckingham Gate is a company synonymous with wealth planning and security, therefore the use of gold as an accent was a natural option. The warm metallic can be seen particularly in the luxury wallpapers used in the private offices – a geometric design on deep blue in the two meeting rooms and as shimmering hexagons in the boardroom – and in the accessories, chair legs, boardroom ‘orb’ lights and hanging planters.

Biophilic design

One of the stand-out design features in this commercial office fit out is a stunning living wall. Real ‘bun’ moss has been framed by lightweight concrete slatted paneling – a type of low-maintenance moss that needs no watering as it draws moisture from the air to stay alive. The biophilic element is enhanced by a number of bespoke planters designed and made by MPL, alongside more decorative planters.

Additional elements

MPL Interiors supplied all new office desks and award-winning task chairs for 14 members of staff plus a receptionist, as well as the furniture and floor coverings in the three private rooms. New branded wall signage can be seen on the street-facing exterior and in the reception area, while the boardroom also features a custom-made refreshment zone and flush-fit TV screen.
