Our returning client wanted to create a new office headquarters that was a mix of working areas – collaborative, private, peaceful and communal – all delivered in a creative and inspiring way. There was also a request to reflect the company’s brand colours within the design scheme, incorporate biophilic elements and foster a homely vibe in some of the more relaxed areas.
MPL is no stranger to The Heights complex in Weybridge, having completed a number of commercial fit-outs in the building. Our work this time was sectioned into two main phases.
Phase one for this project involved a site visit, followed by a set of detailed technical drawings. A new space layout was produced, with the client requesting a board room, private offices, open plan desk areas, a pod, an open plan kitchen and a breakout zone.
Phase two was a CAT B fitout with the standard validation of CAT A M&E supplies, with MPL replacing or reconfiguring power, data, lighting and mechanical/air conditioning, and preparing all new internal surface finishes.
New glass partitions were vital in dividing the space and creating the required private areas. We also laid all new floors, installed a bespoke kitchen with breakfast island and pendant lights, specified and installed all new office furniture, designed and installed tailored storage and added storage and a refreshment station to the boardroom.
Our client is a big fan of the natural world and the colour green, which dovetail brilliantly within this project. The colour palette across the scheme features shades of forest, moss, sage and olive, added in the shape of opulent kitchen tiles, velvet upholstered chairs, paint and wallpaper. Biophilic elements are also seen – real pot plants help purify the air, soften harsh lines and reduce stress levels, while a faux living wall provides a memorable focal point.
While the office features a number of more conventional desk clusters, private meeting rooms, a pod and a 10-seater boardroom, there is a breakout area that could be mistaken for a plush, residential living room.
The space, enclosed by a full height, solid partition and a half partition with open shelving above, provides a private yet relaxed spot for brainstorming and informal catch ups. Comfort is created by including a large sofa that’s flanked by two arm chairs, with scatter cushions, a sideboard dressed with vases, a pair of coffee tables, house plants and a wallpapered feature wall exaggerating the homely vibe.
