Weald Wealth, Kent

The brief

Weald Wealth came to us after inheriting a traditional office set up, with lots of small rooms and a rather oppressive feel.

After seeing MPL's past commercial office fit outs, the company wanted its new office to be light, bright and more open, with a mini brief to create a more luxurious and distinctive feel in the boardroom and the waiting area – the two places their clients would see.

Our approach

We started with a new space layout and our reconfiguration illustrated how the floor could be opened up. Walls were knocked down to create a light interior space with an open kitchen, included to encourage employees to have informal meetings over a coffee. We were mindful to build in enough storage in the kitchen so space stayed clutter-free, with handle-free cabinetry and a glass-topped island unit for a sleek showroom look. Our space design also included a breakout room with seating and microwave, as the client wanted staff to heat up food and eat lunch away from the open plan area.

Light and bright

The theme throughout is contemporary, with grey and white paired with yellow and turquoise for vibrancy. Glass partitions add to the airy feel, which we have used to create a number of private meeting rooms. The glass walls grant soundproofed privacy but allow the light to flow.

Elevating client-facing areas

The boardroom and the waiting area were set apart using different materials, treatments and colours. Walnut veneer paneling, copper pendent lights, LED feature lighting and a metallic wall-mounted logo combine to create a more upscale feel. The addition of LCD screens – one of which is recessed into a false wall in the boardroom – finish the look.

Additional aspects

Our work at Weald Wealth also included a new ceiling, new lighting, new floor coverings, and new office chairs and desks throughout.
