Acorn, Kirkdale

The brief

The client had a strong idea of what the two different floors should look like – each having its own distinct feel but still sitting cohesively within The Acorn Group’s brand identity. We were asked to produce 3D plans – setting out the final layout design and interior finish - before the estate agent office refurbishment work started.

Our approach

We defined the ground floor using urban elements, including exposed air conditioning ducts, an untreated ceiling, imitation brick vinyl wallpaper, cool shades of grey and a false wall finished with a 3D concrete-effect cladding, now housing a recessed digital screen. Completing the ground floor is a private meeting space, enclosed by bespoke brushed steel upright slats that have been sprayed in Acorn’s distinctive corporate red.

Going underground

The basement is where the ski lodge theme takes over. The space is divided into two areas – a break-out zone that resembles a lounge and a more formal meeting room with a glass wall for privacy, which echoes a luxury chalet dining room.

Subtle shades of grey, textured fabrics, feature lighting, wood-effect wallpaper and exposed structural elements complement the design on the ground floor but have been specified to create an intimate feeling.

Additional elements

MPL Interiors also installed: all exterior business signage, cable-strung LED-lit window display pockets, an illuminated fascia, a projecting sign, a new kitchen, new cloakrooms and new floor coverings, as well as building all the new office furniture.
